About Me

Hi there!

My name is Kate Schloe, and I’m the proud owner of Bright Beginnings Speech Therapy. I’m also the loving wife and mother to an energetic daughter, adorable baby boy and loyal golden retriever.

I earned my Bachelor of Science from the State University of New York at Geneseo and my Master of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology from the State University of New York at Buffalo. I am certified by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and licensed in the state of Maryland.

Because it’s so important to meet the unique needs of every child, I am committed to learning the most up to date clinical approaches and therapy techniques. I have received training in PROMPT (Level 1) and Dynamic Temporal and Tactile Cueing (DTTC). I also have experience working with LAMP, Proloquo2Go and lower tech AAC, such as PECS.

Throughout my career as an SLP, I’ve been fortunate enough to work with children of all ages and backgrounds in both the school and home setting. I began my career in New York and Virginia schools, where I provided therapy to elementary and middle school-aged children with varying communication disorders. After moving to California, I worked with young children (birth to three) and their families through early intervention services. This is where I discovered the importance of family coaching in speech and language therapy. After a few years in California, my family and I moved to Maryland where I worked in the schools until the birth of my son.

At Bright Beginnings Speech Therapy, I recognize the importance of providing individual speech therapy in a child’s natural environment involving all members of the family. I find it incredibly rewarding to help children practice their communication skills in the context of their daily lives. It’s so fulfilling to see how progress in therapy can have such a positive impact on a child’s overall confidence.

I truly love being an SLP, but when I’m not working with children (others or my own!), you’ll find me biking on the C&O Canal, canoeing on the Potomac or singing show tunes loudly for all to hear.
